The Buescher True Tone was an enormously popular horn in the USA in the 1920’s and 30’s and there are lots of them around today as well. That is why they are not worth as much as some of the rarer vintage horns. But the reason they were so popular was that they play well, so if you are looking for a beautiful and good-playing alto sax on a budget, the True Tone is a natural choice. The gold-plated horns are much more rare, and they look the best of all the finishes from that time. To get a clean gold plated horn for this price is a great deal. This sax has just been cleaned and hand polished, but it needs pads. It currently has none, and is waiting in line for a repad. Somebody should pick this horn up and put pads in it, and you will have a great alto for very little work and very little money. The only cosmetic issue is that the bow guard is missing. Besides that, neck, bell bow and body tube all look great.
