Buescher Top Hat and Cane 400 Alto B7

Description

This is a beautiful original lacquer Buescher Top Hat and Cane (400, B7) Alto saxophone in great original condition. It has all its original pads, with snaps and spuds intact, as well as all its gold plated Norton springs. The original lacquer is almost all present, with just some flaky lacquer on the back of the bow area from sitting in the case for many years. I love the look of the silver ‘tone ring’ under the bell lip. If it weren’t so labor intensive to do, then I wish someone would bring that feature back today!

Whether you’re a collector or a player, this is a super nice example of the top of the line Buescher that everyone wants. These are very consistent when overhauled, so it should play a lot like most other Top Hat and Cane altos in similar shape with new pads:  very good intonation, very good projection, round, warm, medium tone between bright and dark. Nice, resonant body tube that vibrates well when you play loudly. It really does it all from classical to classic rock.
