This is a beautiful freshly overhauled Big B tenor with small bell and gold wash. It was carefully re-plated, probably by Anderson Plating in Indiana sometime recently. It just got a fresh, high-end full overhaul by Aaron Barnard, who is one of the best techs in the USA. It’s definitely a pretty saxophone, with gorgeous engraving and a dark gold wash in the bell. It sports the desirable smaller bell that only a subset of Big B tenors have. These horns are among the best American tenors ever made and were billed as a jazzier alternative to the 400 “Top Hat and Cane” line. These are excellent, professional tenors that are highly prized for their big complex tone, good build quality, excellent intonation, and all around satisfying playing experience.
There are currently no dents, and there is evidence of the low Eb keycage being resoldered and some dents having been removed from the back of the bow before the horn was replated. The neck is also re-plated and matches the horn. This horn comes with a remarkably excellent condition original case.
