This is a vintage Borgani soprano saxophone, made in Macerata, Italy. It has old pads and plays a little bit on them, but it will need a repad or at least a thorough tune-up to play well. The keys are nickel and the body is brass, with lacquer worn off where it is reddish (The red comes from higher copper content in the brass than most horns, like a 40’s Conn 10M.) It doesn’t show signs of significant past repairs or dent work. It looks pretty good structurally. Ergonomically, it feels pretty good – palm keys are nice, as are the stacks, and you get used to the pinky keys in a few weeks. Someone appears to have loved the way this horn played, and played it quite a bit. It comes in the original case. This should be a good deal on a hand made vintage soprano sax that promises to play well with some pad work put in. If you want a decent soprano that is not made in a factory in the Far East, but you have a tight budget, this could be a good option.
