Conn 10M Tenor Saxophone 265xxx Transitional

Description

This is a very early 10M style transitional tenor. It will be a really good deal for the money for somebody, I think, because it has been relacquered very gently without causing much in the way of mechanical problems on the horn. The lacquer is the correct kind and color to be original, so the horn looks really good. You might almost think it was original if you just looked at the engraving. This horn has had a small dent removed from the top of the neck, and there is evidence of some other minor dent work on the back of the bow. Interestingly, this horn has a double-wire bell keyguard that Conn only tried out for a very short period on their transitional tenors. This seems to add a little bit of value to most of these rare horns.

This horn has a mix of older and newer pads and is sold in good playing condition. It plays like most 10M’s, with a big-yet-focused tone that is dark, fat, and powerful. The reason to buy one of these is that the sound is like nothing else made then or since. With one of these horns, you get more tonal colors to work with on your pallette. It’s as simple as that. I’m discounting this horn big time because of the lacquer, so someone stands to get a really nice playing 10M transitional for a great price.
