The Buescher Top Hat and Cane tenor is the top of the line saxophone model made by the Buescher company. This horn is relacquered, so it’s a chance to get it for a significantly lower price than it would otherwise be if it were original lacquer. On a horn like this, where it is actually pretty hard for the average person to tell that it was relacquered, it is very unlikely that the light buffing that was done affected the tone of the horn in any negative way. As you can tell by looking at the pictures of the engraving below, this horn was very lightly buffed, or perhaps hand polished when it was relacquered. I don’t see any evidence of over-buffing anywhere. All the tone holes look great and are not worn down or anything. This horn has the underslung octave key, and the silver tone ring on the bell as well.
I am selling this horn needing a repad. It has snap in pads at present, and you could put in a new set of snap ins if you want. The gold plated norton springs are intact as well. It should be an easy repad process. There is one resolder on the horn – the body side of the bell-body brace. These horns are killer players when they are repadded well, so this should be a really good purchase for somebody out there!
