Description
This original lacquer The Martin Alto has a high-end overhaul and plays really effortlessly. It feels nice and snappy and light under the fingers, and is fast and responsive. The tone is beautiful, warm, medium between dark and bright, and very powerful. You will have plenty of what they used to call ‘carrying power’ in reserve, should you need to play over a band or a section. But it plays soft and sweet if you like too. These are among the most under-rated altos in the entire saxophone universe in my opinion. Go listen to Art Pepper meets the Rhythm Section, and you can hear the same model played with either a Meyer or an MC Gregory. You get a sweet, dry, jazzy tone that just sounds great. And these horns are built to last. They came with a 50-year manufacturer’s warranty! The overhaul on this horn is very high-quality – the sort of job you would expect to pay at least $1000 for at any good saxophone shop, but done to the utmost level of detail oriented persnicketiness.
If you want to add a BAM Softpack alto case (my recommendation) for easy shipping and gigging, I’ll sell you one at a big discount as a package deal.
