Description
This is a 1965 Selmer Mark VI tenor American-engraved and assembled. It is original lacquer, though there isn’t much lacquer left on the horn. When I got it, there was a bit more lacquer on the bell, but I had some of it removed because the bare brass spots and turned red, and I think VI’s look better with a more matte patina that is even throughout the horn. This horn had several posts resoldered, and some dents removed on the back of the bow, one near the top of the body tube and one on the side of the neck. Neck has no serial number, so it might be a Selmer Mark VI replacement neck. It had a high end complete overhaul, which means fixing everything – keywork, mechanics, all pads corks and felts, a thorough neck-fit and setup. This thing plays like a dream now. Low Bb, even at very low volumes, stays saturated, and is just another note. Response is effortless, and the horn is very free blowing. You don’t have to think about the instrument. Just play!
