Description
This is a beautiful Selmer Mark VI alto sax from 1965. It is/was original lacquer which is now entirely gone, so it has a cool bare brass look. It’s in good physical condition with minimal evidence of past repairs. Looks like a small dent was removed from the bottom bow guard and was done well, and there’s a tiny mark on the back of the body near the G# key where a small dent was removed, but it’s hard to tell.
This is a desirable American-engraved and assembled Mark VI, and it has the matching serial number on the neck. It’s one of the last Mark VI’s that had the neck serial number stamped, actually. This is a very good vintage for Mark VI altos. It has a big, warm, medium tone between bright and dark. Kind of darker and fatter than many Mark VI altos, which is nice. The intonation is good, ergonomics are good. Pads are medium-old, but hey, it plays pretty well except for the low notes being hard to get out, and the price is very low for what it is – a beautiful, original, very clean Mark VI alto from an excellent vintage. Grab it now and get playing!
