Description
This is a super-clean Series III soprano that has been played very little since it was new. It has nearly 100% of the original lacquer intact, and no damage past or present. This horn has just been checked out to make sure that the pads are in good adjustment and it is ready to go right out of the case. It comes with two necks, and the curved neck is the solid silver upgrade, which gives you a more centered, darker (think wider-throated “Ah” type sound) tone with a more penetrating ring to it, and some extra overtones. Straight neck is brass, so you can experiment with both.
Sonically, the tone is classic modern Selmer – a delicate, semi-complex French core that is round and medium-bright. The intonation and ergonomics are very good. This horn has a high G key as well. All told, this is a beautiful example of a Series III that is in great shape and that costs a whole lot less than a new one. This horn ships in the original case, which is also in excellent condition.
