Well, if you read the short description above, then you already know what I think about the Zephyr Special. It’s among the best-sounding altos ever made, with a sweet, lively, tone that is just gorgeous. Matt’s overhaul on this horn is a big plus, and represents a ton of very careful work getting the horn into top mechanical and playing condition. You can read on Matt’s website how extensive his overhaul process is, and he is so in-demand these days that he’s no longer able to take work from new clients.

If you have been looking for a top-quality Zephyr Special alto for a while, it would be hard to do better than this one. And the price is quite low for what you get, because Matt’s work is not cheap, and I don’t get any discount from him either!

If you have any questions about the horn, send them along, and I’ll do my best. Whoever gets this will be very pleased, I think. I would keep it myself, but I have one that is identical to this already overhauled by Matt.
