Description
This is a nice, medium bow 137xxx Selmer Mark VI alto with high F#. For those of you that need a high F# for classical repertoire, or just for convenience, this is one of the best deals on a VI you will find. It comes from my favorite serial range for the VI alto, when it had the best combination of tone and intonation etc. This horn has good pads that are a mix of old and new. As you can tell from the pearls, it has been played a lot. Past repairs are still pretty moderate. The post for the LH pinky spatula has been resoldered, along with the Eb key guard. The bow guard has a little dent in it, and the back of the bow has seen some small dents removed. The original neck looks good and plays very well. This horn has that medium-bright, rich tone that people especially prize on a Mark VI. This horn is similar to the one that Sanborn plays, only it was assembled in Europe rather than in the USA. Of course, all vintage Selmer saxophones were manufactured in France, and they are essentially the same regardless of where the parts were put together. This includes a vintage Selmer Mark VI case as well, and I would be willing to include a modern BAM case for only a little extra (big discount, to keep your horn safe!)
If you are looking for a really good, solid VI alto with F#, of a great vintage that is also priced very reasonably, feels good, and tunes well, then this is it. There’s only one available. Get it now!
