The 475 is Yamaha’s modern one-piece soprano, and it has several good things going for it. As a one-piece, it is lighter in the hands than any of the other sopranos that Yamaha makes. It has great build quality, a sweet tone, and modern ergonomics. The intonation is excellent, and it is also a nicely resonant horn that comes alive in your hands efforlessly.
This particular horn is in near mint condition. It is basically mint, but there are some light scuffs on the very rim of the bell just from the way the horn sat on its stand. The pads are in great shape and have just been adjusted. If I were looking for the best possible modern soprano for $1500, this would be the no-brainer choice. And no, I don’t think that the 475II is any better than the 475. As was the case with the 62 and the 62II, it’s basically the same horn, with only the most minor of changes and a higher price!
