The original 875 tenors by Yamaha are darker and more complex than any other Yamaha tenor made so far. They have a rich core to the sound that is more like an early Selmer than you will find in the rest of Yamaha’s line (Though it is still a Yamaha sound). I am not sure why this is, but I played one of these for many years and loved it. You get a nice, fat, medium-dark tone with excellent build quality and modern keywork, ergonomics, and intonation. If you like Yamaha but want a darker tone, this is the horn for you. It works equally well for classical, legit, jazz, or even rock with a brighter mouthpiece. Or if you are looking for a good all-around modern pro tenor, look no further. This is it.
Cosmetically, this horn is in mint condition, or at least very nearly so, and it includes the original paperwork and polishing cloth still in the wrapper. The plastic is still on the case handle and the horn has obviously been played very little since it was new. It has no dents or dings or past repairs. The lacquer is a beautiful darker gold color, and the Custom engraving is very nice as well.
The pads are in excellent condition, and the horn plays very well. It is gig-ready right out of the case and needs nothing.
This horn ships in the original case in excellent condition.
