This is a rare, near mint condition original lacquer SML Rev D tenor (same model as the Gold Medal 1, but before it won the “gold medal” and was renamed). This horn has almost all of its original lacquer intact. It’s pretty rare to see a Rev D tenor at all, with only around 3000-4000 made total (between roughly SN#8000-16000 incl SATB), and this one is the nicest example of a tenor that I’ve seen. This horn had a recent overhaul and has been played very little since then. It has just been setup again to make sure that things are sealing as they should.
It has a beautiful floral engraving pattern on the bell, and there are minimal issues to mention – just some tiny dings that have been removed (like that small dot below the serial number stamp), and that’s it. No resolders, neck is in great shape, horn is straight and plays well. Rolled tone holes look good. The original case is very good too. This should be an easy, turn-key purchase on a very nice SML tenor saxophone.
