Here is a nice, clean Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone, SN# 236xxx. It has at least 95% of its original lacquer intact, with the most wear in one spot on the back of the body tube. There are a few small dings on the back of the in the pictures that will be removed pre-sale. This is nothing serious at all. Besides that, the horn is extremely clean with no dents, no resolders, and no past repairs.

There are a few small dings on the back of the in the pictures that will be removed pre-sale. This is nothing serious at all. Besides that, the horn is extremely clean with no dents, no resolders, and no past repairs. The neck is in great shape and has not been pulled down or damaged. The body is straight, and the keywork is in great shape as well – everything works as it should. The pads are medium-old and sealing well– not bad, but not new either.

Sonically, this horn is medium bright and has a classic Mark VI kind of tone. The later VI tenors have been very good in my experience, and this one is no exception. It’s a fun horn to play, and it should work well for anyone who is looking for a really great Mark VI under $5k. With new and even used Reference Selmers (which are not nearly as fun to play as a Mark VI) selling in this range and more, my recommendation is to buy a nice, clean Mark VI like this and play it while it goes up in value. If you’re a “Selmer guy” it seems like the obvious thing to do.
