This is a good, original lacquer example of an early Selmer Mark VI soprano from 1967. 1967 was a good year for Selmer saxophones, and this one is further confirmation of that fact. There were very few sopranos made that year, and this one would have to be one of the best examples in the world. It plays well on existing pads. There was a small dent removed on the back of the body where you see lacquer missing, and the bell flare has a very bit of lacquer wear from the horn bumping the edge of the case, or possibly from a mic. The tone is classic VI soprano – a reedy, delicate French core tone that is medium between bright and dark and that can go in all sorts of directions depending on mouthpiece. If you have been looking for a great VI soprano for a while, this would be hard to beat. It ships in the original case in good condition.
