This is a rare and beautiful, heavily engraved Martin Music Man tenor, which is the top-of-the-line model that preceded the Magna. This horn is in excellent original condition with about 97% of the original lacquer intact. It has had a crease removed from the bell flare, but it is otherwise totally clean. This is really a very nice tenor that would be pretty hard to beat for a vintage Martin. With a good repad, this horn will do things that no other vintage tenor can do. The sound is powerful and fat with a lush low register and a tone that stays very full up into the upper register. These Martin tenors are perfect for either jazz or for rock, funk, or R&B. They are also very sturdily-built and hold up well with regular gigging. The LH pinky keys should be light and comfortable without friction, but many repair guys set them up incorrectly, so that they feel too hard. If you want me to get this horn overhauled to the highest standards so that it will play its very best, I would be very happy to oversee that for you. The “Music Man” in the museum section was one of the best horns I have played and sold for quite a bit more than this a few years ago.
