This is a rare Keilwerth-made Couf Superba I tenor saxophone. It has rolled tone holes and original lacquer. Other key features include the comfortable, modern-like keywork, the oversized pearl key touches, and a very convenient high F# included. These horns are what I almost always recommend for people looking for a big, dark vintage tone with modern keywork. ( Buffet Dynaction and Super Dynaction are the other main options for that.) That is, if I can find one. They are typically fairly hard to find in good physical condition. For a bargain price, you can get a really good playing horn.
This horn has a mix of original and replacement pads and plays pretty well as is. I often play a Superba I myself, because I love the lush, full tone even at low volumes, and the complex, dark core to the sound. If you need volume, you have it in plenty. If you want to whisper, you can do it with authority. Really, these horns are great fun to play.
This one comes with the original case, matching serial neck, and is in very clean physical condition with no resolders and a couple of small dents removed from the back of the bow (very insignificant). Get it now before it’s gone! You won’t regret it. And if you want to get it and also get a fresh overhaul at the same time, let me know and we can discuss details.
